“We plunge into fiction to escape - why else would we imagine entirely new worlds only to return to ours? We want stories about the desire to escape. What makes your characters want to bolt for the mountain, or pack up and move across the country, or stay shut in at home, replacing real life with virtuality? We want risky narratives. Prose that makes us look out into the distance and think, gotdamn. They really did that. Give us your musings, your wildest bedtime stories. Make it intense, but have some common ground with the readers.”
